Best Small Smartwatches UK 2026: Compact Picks for Slim Wrists

Best Small Smartwatches UK 2026: Compact Picks for Slim Wrists

The best small smart watch is the one that fits your wrist: a case of 42 mm or less, a weight you stop noticing and a band that closes on a slim wrist without a gap. Updated for 2026, this guide compares six small smart watches on sale in the UK, with each one's case dimensions, weight and the smallest wrist its maker's band fits laid out side by side. Prices were checked on 25 September 2026 for the cheapest colour in stock, so treat them as a snapshot.

👉 Read on for the fit table, the six reviews and a short guide to measuring your wrist before you buy.

Why a small smart watch is harder to find than it should be

On a slim wrist, a big smartwatch shows its size straight away: the lugs overhang the edge of the wrist, the case tips sideways when you bend your hand, and the band ends up on its last hole with a gap underneath. Most of the watches in this guide also come in a 44 mm to 46 mm version, and that larger size is often the one a shop shows first. The headline size does not settle it either, because some makers quote the case height rather than its width, and weights are quoted with or without the band depending on who is counting.

So this guide sets one rule. Every pick is a current model sold in the UK, in its smaller size, with a marketed case size of 42 mm or less. It then compares the numbers that decide comfort before it gets to screens and features. The six watches cover iPhone, Android and both, from £199 to £369.

What makes small smart watches comfortable: width, thickness, weight and band fit

Four numbers decide whether a watch suits a slim wrist, and each maker publishes them slightly differently.

  • Marketed size versus measured size. A "40 mm" label can mean different things. Apple quotes case height, so the 40 mm Apple Watch SE 3 is 34 mm wide [3]. Samsung's 40 mm Galaxy Watch9 measures 40.4 x 42.7 mm [6], and Garmin sells the vívoactive 6 as a 42 mm watch while listing it at 42.2 mm [11]. Width across the wrist is what decides whether the lugs overhang.
  • Thickness. A thin case slides under a shirt cuff and sits flatter on a narrow wrist. The six picks run from 8.6 mm (Galaxy Watch9) to 11 mm (Lily 2 Active) [1][6].
  • Weight. Most makers quote the case on its own. Garmin gives the vívoactive 6 as 23 g, or 36 g with its band [11], and Huawei states its figures with the strap excluded [9].
  • The smallest wrist the band fits. This is the number that matters most for a slim wrist and the one shops rarely show. Garmin's Lily 2 Active band fits wrists from 110 mm [1], Huawei's 41 mm strap from 120 mm [9], the vívoactive 6 from 125 mm [11], and Apple's and Samsung's S/M bands from 130 mm [5][8].

Screen and battery come next, and a small case usually means less of both. The trade is sharpest with Apple: the SE 3 is rated for up to 18 hours of normal use [3], while Huawei's GT 7 41 mm is rated for up to 14 days in light use [9].

Top 6 small smartwatches worth buying – UK 2026

1. Garmin Lily 2 Active – the best small smartwatch for slim wrists

Source: Garmin

✅ Pros:

  • A 38 x 38 mm case and a band that fits wrists from 110 mm, the smallest fit in this guide [1]
  • Built-in GPS, Garmin Pay and up to 9 days in smartwatch mode, or 9 hours with GPS on [1]
  • Works with iPhone and Android phones through Garmin Connect [1]

⛔ Con:

  • The 1 x 0.84-inch screen is 16-level greyscale rather than colour, and at 11 mm it is the thickest case here [1]

Garmin launched the Lily 2 Active in October 2024 (the announcement is dated 2 October) as a small watch with built-in GPS [2], and it is still the GPS model in Garmin's current Lily line almost two years later. It earns the top spot because it is the one watch here designed around a small wrist rather than shrunk from a larger model.

The standout is the fit. The case is 38 mm square, Garmin quotes 29 g, and the included band fits wrists from 110 mm to 175 mm [1]. That lower figure is 20 mm below the S/M bands Apple and Samsung sell, which is the difference between a band that closes neatly on a 120 mm wrist and one that stays loose. The lens is Gorilla Glass 3, and the bands are quick-release, so swapping in a spare strap needs no tools [1].

GPS is built in, so a walk or run records distance and pace without your phone, and Garmin adds Body Battery energy tracking, smart notifications, music controls for your phone and incident detection during selected activities [1]. Garmin Pay handles contactless payments, and the watch is rated 5 ATM for swimming [1].

The compromise is the screen. It measures 25.4 x 21.3 mm with a 240 x 201 resolution and shows 16 shades of grey [1], so maps, photos and long messages are out. The case is also 11 mm deep, so it sits taller than the Galaxy Watch9 or Series 12. If you want a big colour screen, the vívoactive 6 below is the Garmin to choose.

Buy it if your wrist is under about 130 mm, you share a household of iPhone and Android phones, or you want a watch that looks like a watch. At the time of writing Garmin's own price was £299.99 [1] and the Jasper Green version was £254.99 on Amazon. For the full spec sheet and our category scores, see the Garmin Lily 2 Active on ChoiceWise.

2. Apple Watch SE 3 (40 mm) – the best value small watch for iPhone owners

✅ Pros:

  • A 34 mm-wide, 26.3 g case, the narrowest here, with an always-on display [3]
  • Sold here with the S/M Sport Band, which fits wrists from 130 to 180 mm [5]
  • Sleep score, sleep apnoea notifications and a temperature sensor for £219 [3]

⛔ Con:

  • Up to 18 hours of normal use means charging daily, and it only works with an iPhone [3]

Apple announced the Watch SE 3 in September 2025 (on the 9th), and it reached shops on 19 September 2025 [4]. It is still Apple's current SE, and the 40 mm size is the smallest Apple Watch on sale.

Its strength for a slim wrist is the shape. The case is 40 mm tall but only 34 mm wide and 10.7 mm deep, and it weighs 26.3 g in the GPS version [3]. Because the rectangular case runs along the wrist rather than across it, it overhangs less than a round watch of the same headline size. The Amazon listing we link comes with the S/M Sport Band; Apple states that size fits wrists from 130 mm to 180 mm, with the M/L band covering 150 mm to 200 mm [5].

You get most of the everyday Apple Watch for £219. The always-on display has 759 sq mm of screen and reaches 1,000 nits, behind Ion-X glass that Apple says is four times more crack resistant than the SE 2's [3]. It adds sleep score, sleep apnoea notifications, a temperature sensor and single tap, double tap and wrist-flick gestures [3], and it is water resistant to 50 metres [3].

The compromises are battery and sensors. Apple rates it for up to 18 hours of normal use and 32 hours in Low Power Mode [3], so it goes on the charger every night. It has no electrical heart sensor for ECG and no blood-oxygen sensor; those are Series 12 features [3][13].

Buy it if you use an iPhone, want the lightest route into Apple Watch and are happy to charge daily. Skip it if you use Android, or if a week between charges matters more than apps. For the full spec sheet and our category scores, see the Apple Watch SE 3 40 mm on ChoiceWise.

3. Samsung Galaxy Watch9 (40 mm) – the best small smartwatch for Android

✅ Pros:

  • 8.6 mm deep and 31.5 g, the thinnest case in this guide [6]
  • A 1.3-inch Super AMOLED behind sapphire crystal, up to 3,000 nits [6]
  • S/M band fits wrists from 130 mm, M/L from 145 mm [8]

⛔ Con:

  • Android only: Samsung's health features need an Android phone on Android 13 or later [6]

The Galaxy Watch9 went on sale in the UK on 7 August 2026 [7], so this is Samsung's newest standard Galaxy Watch. The 40 mm version is the smaller of its two sizes.

Samsung sells it as 40 mm, but its spec sheet gives 40.4 x 42.7 mm [6], so it is wider across the wrist than the Apple Watch SE 3. What it gets right for a slim wrist is depth: at 8.6 mm it is the thinnest watch in this guide, and at 31.5 g it is light for a full smartwatch [6]. Samsung's Sport Band comes in S/M (130–185 mm) and M/L (145–205 mm) [8], so check which size a listing includes before you buy.

The screen is the other highlight: a 1.3-inch, 438 x 438 Super AMOLED behind sapphire crystal, rated up to 3,000 nits [6]. Samsung gives the 40 mm model a 390 mAh battery, 20% larger than the Galaxy Watch8 40 mm, and rates it for up to 40 hours with the always-on display off, or 30 hours with it on [6]. Health tracking includes an electrical heart sensor and a blood-pressure feature that needs regular calibration, and Google Gemini is built in for voice requests [6]. It is rated 5 ATM for swimming [6].

The compromise is the phone you need. Samsung's own notes say features such as sleep coaching and the running coach need an Android phone on Android 13 or later with the Samsung Health app [6], so this is not a watch for an iPhone. Battery life also means charging every day or two, well short of the Garmins or the Huawei.

Buy it if you own an Android phone, especially a Samsung, and want a thin watch with a bright colour screen. At £349 it is the second most expensive pick here.

4. Huawei Watch GT 7 (41 mm) – the longest battery with a colour screen

Source: Huawei

✅ Pros:

  • Up to 14 days of battery in light use, 7 days typical and 5 with always-on, from a 1.32-inch AMOLED [9]
  • The strap fits wrists from 120 mm to 180 mm [9]
  • Works with Android 9 or later and iOS 13 or later, with dual-band GPS, NFC and a speaker and microphone [9]

⛔ Con:

  • At about 36.5 g to 37.6 g without its strap, the stainless-steel case is the heaviest here [9]

Huawei put the Watch GT 7 on sale in the UK in September 2026, taking orders from 2 September at a launch price from £279.99 [10]. The 41 mm version is the smaller of its two sizes and was £229.99 on Amazon when we checked, in Blue, Pink or Grey.

The standout is battery life. Huawei rates the 41 mm model for up to 14 days in light use, 7 days in typical use and 5 days with the always-on display on, plus up to 32 hours in its trail-running mode [9]. Among the colour-screen watches here, only the vívoactive 6, at up to 11 days, gets near it; the Apple and Samsung picks need charging every day or two. The screen itself is a 1.32-inch, 466 x 466 AMOLED rated up to 3,000 nits [9].

The case is 41.3 mm round and 9.99 mm deep, and the included strap fits wrists from 120 mm to 180 mm, so it suits slim wrists that are too small for Apple's and Samsung's S/M bands [9]. It works with both Android and iPhone, has dual-band GPS, NFC, a speaker and microphone for calls through your phone, and is rated 5 ATM and IP69 [9].

The compromise is weight and strap choice. The stainless-steel case weighs about 36.5 g in Blue and 37.5 g to 37.6 g in the other colours without the strap, the heaviest here [9]. Huawei also says its composite leather straps, fitted to the White and Grey versions, are not designed for swimming or sweat [9]; the Blue and Pink versions have fluoroelastomer straps. Check that the apps and payment options you rely on work with it before you buy.

Buy it if you want a colour-screen smartwatch that goes a week or more between charges and works with any phone.

5. Garmin vívoactive 6 – the best value small fitness watch

Source: Garmin

✅ Pros:

  • 23 g without its band (36 g with it), the lightest case in this guide [11]
  • A 1.2-inch AMOLED, built-in GPS, Garmin Pay and music storage [11]
  • Up to 11 days in smartwatch mode (5 with always-on) and 21 hours of GPS [11]

⛔ Con:

  • At 42.2 x 42.2 mm it has the widest face here, and there is no speaker or microphone for calls [11]

Garmin announced the vívoactive 6 in April 2025 (on 1 April) [12], and it remains the current vívoactive. It sits at the top of this guide's size limit, but it is the lightest watch here and the cheapest.

That weight is the reason it made the list. Garmin quotes 23 g for the case alone and 36 g with the included band [11], so the whole watch weighs about what some rivals' cases weigh by themselves. The case is 10.9 mm deep and the band fits wrists from 125 mm to 190 mm [11]. It uses standard 20 mm quick-release bands, so replacements are easy to find [11].

It is the most complete fitness watch here for the money. The 1.2-inch, 390 x 390 AMOLED has an optional always-on mode, GPS is built in, and it stores music for phone-free runs [11]. Garmin rates it for up to 11 days in smartwatch mode, 5 days with always-on, 21 days in battery-saver mode and 21 hours of GPS-only tracking [11]. Garmin Pay, Wi-Fi, downloadable Connect IQ apps and incident detection during selected activities are included, and it works with iPhone and Android [11].

The compromise is size and calls. At 42.2 mm it is the widest face in this guide and its band starts at 125 mm, so the Lily 2 Active is the better Garmin for the slimmest wrists. Garmin lists no speaker or microphone, so calls stay on your phone [11].

Buy it if you want long battery life, GPS and a colour screen for under £200. Garmin's price was £269.99 [11]; the Jasper Green version was £199 on Amazon when we checked. For the full spec sheet and our category scores, see the Garmin vívoactive 6 on ChoiceWise.

6. Apple Watch Series 12 (42 mm) – the premium small watch for iPhone owners

Source: Apple

✅ Pros:

  • 9.7 mm deep and 32.2 g, the slimmest Apple Watch here [13]
  • Electrical heart sensor for ECG, blood oxygen, temperature and hypertension notifications [13]
  • A 2,000-nit always-on display with 970 sq mm of screen in a 37 mm-wide case [13]

⛔ Con:

  • Up to 24 hours of battery, £369 and iPhone only [13]

Apple announced the Watch Series 12 in September 2026 (on the 9th), with shops selling it from 18 September 2026 [14]. It is the newest watch in this guide, and the 42 mm case is the smaller of its two sizes.

For a slim wrist it is the most refined Apple option. The aluminium case is 42 mm tall, 37 mm wide and 9.7 mm deep, and the GPS model weighs 32.2 g [13]. Next to the SE 3 it is 3 mm wider and about 6 g heavier, but a millimetre thinner, and Apple states that its bands for this case fit wrists from 130 mm to 200 mm [13].

What the extra £150 buys is health and screen. The Series 12 has an electrical heart sensor for ECG readings, a blood-oxygen sensor and a temperature sensor, and adds hypertension notifications on top of the SE 3's sleep features [13]. Its always-on display has 970 sq mm of screen, reaches 2,000 nits and sits behind Ceramic Shield 2 on the aluminium models [13]. It is water resistant to 50 metres and IP6X dust resistant [13].

The compromise is the same as every Apple Watch: up to 24 hours of normal use, or 38 hours in Low Power Mode [13], so it charges nightly, and it only works with an iPhone. At £369 it is also the most expensive watch here.

Buy it if you use an iPhone and want Apple's full health sensors in a thin case. For the full spec sheet and our category scores, see the Apple Watch Series 12 42 mm on ChoiceWise.

Read the table as two decisions when choosing a small smart watch. The first is your phone: the two Apples need an iPhone and the Samsung needs Android, while the two Garmins and the Huawei work with either. The second is your wrist: under about 130 mm, only the Lily 2 Active, the GT 7 and the vívoactive 6 come with a band that fits, and the Lily 2 Active has the most room to spare.

What to consider before buying a small women's smart watch or any watch for a slim wrist

A small women's smart watch is not a separate product type, and none of the six here is sold only to women. What matters is the fit, so measure before you choose.

  • Measure your wrist first. Wrap a strip of paper or a soft tape measure around your wrist where you would wear the watch, just above the wrist bone, mark where it overlaps and measure the length in millimetres. Samsung's own advice is to measure first and then pick the band size that matches [8].
  • Aim for the middle of a band's range. A wrist at the bottom end leaves you on the last hole with a long tail of strap. If you measure 125 mm or less, the Lily 2 Active (from 110 mm) and GT 7 (from 120 mm) are the safe choices [1][9].
  • Check the band size in the listing. Apple and Samsung sell two band sizes for the same watch. Apple's 40 mm Sport Band S/M fits 130–180 mm and the M/L 150–200 mm [5]; Samsung's S/M fits 130–185 mm and the M/L 145–205 mm [8]. The SE 3 listing linked here includes the S/M band, but check the Galaxy Watch9 and Series 12 listings before you pay. Garmin and Huawei ship one band with a single stated range [1][9][11].
  • Match the watch to your phone. The Apple Watches work only with an iPhone and the Galaxy Watch9's features need Android 13 or later [3][6]; the Garmins and the Huawei work with both [1][9][11]. If you are choosing between Apple models in any size, our guide to the best Apple Watch for iPhone covers the wider range.
  • Check the seller and returns. Prices and sellers on Amazon change daily. Before you pay, check who is selling and dispatching the watch, the returns window and the UK warranty, so a watch that turns out too big can go back.
  • Budget for a second band. A spare band is the cheapest way to change a watch's look. The vívoactive 6 takes standard 20 mm quick-release bands, so you are not tied to Garmin's own [11].

Frequently asked questions about small smartwatches

What size smartwatch is best for a small wrist?

For a wrist under about 150 mm, look for a case of 42 mm or less, a depth of 11 mm or less and, most importantly, a band whose range starts below your wrist measurement. The Lily 2 Active is 38 mm with a band that fits from 110 mm [1]; the Apple Watch SE 3 is 34 mm wide [3]; the Galaxy Watch9 is the thinnest at 8.6 mm [6]. Weight matters less than you might think: everything here is under 38 g for the case.

What is the best small ladies' smart watch in the UK?

The Garmin Lily 2 Active, for most people. It was designed as a small watch, works with iPhone and Android, has built-in GPS and Garmin Pay, and its band fits the slimmest wrists of any watch in this guide [1]. If you want a full colour smartwatch instead, choose the Apple Watch SE 3 with an iPhone or the Galaxy Watch9 with an Android phone. If battery life is your priority, the Huawei Watch GT 7 in 41 mm lasts up to 14 days in light use [9].

Is a "40 mm" watch always smaller than a "42 mm" one?

No. Makers measure differently. Apple's 40 mm SE 3 is 34 mm wide because Apple quotes case height [3], while Samsung's 40 mm Galaxy Watch9 is 40.4 mm wide and 42.7 mm tall [6]. Apple's 42 mm Series 12 is only 37 mm wide [13], so it sits narrower on the wrist than the 40 mm Samsung. Garmin's 42 mm vívoactive 6 measures 42.2 mm [11]. Compare width and depth, not the label.

Do small smartwatches have worse battery life?

Some do, but it depends more on the watch than the size. The SE 3 is rated for up to 18 hours and the Series 12 for up to 24 [3][13], and the Galaxy Watch9 for up to 40 hours with the always-on display off [6]. The Garmins and the Huawei last far longer: up to 9 days for the Lily 2 Active, 11 for the vívoactive 6 and 14 in light use for the GT 7 [1][9][11]. If you hate charging, those three are the ones to look at.

Final verdict

The Garmin Lily 2 Active is the best small smartwatch for most people with slim wrists. Its 38 mm case and band that fits from 110 mm suit wrists the others cannot, it works with any phone, and it adds GPS, Garmin Pay and up to nine days of battery, from £254.99 [1]. Its greyscale screen is the main reason to look elsewhere.

Choose an Apple if you have an iPhone and are happy to charge nightly; choose the Galaxy Watch9 if you use Android; choose the GT 7 or the vívoactive 6 if battery life comes first. Whichever you pick, measure your wrist first, check the band size in the listing and check the seller before you pay.
